Blue Diamond is one of the three ruling Diamonds of the Gem Homeworld, first appearing as a hologram in "The Message". When Steven is imprisoned in a tower on the Gem Homeworld, Blue Diamond, thinking he is Pink Diamond, arrives to scold him. However, Steven reveals that Pink Diamond faked her shattering and became Rose Quartz, but Blue does not help the Crystal Gems escape; she is initially hostile. Yellow Diamond is initially hostile but later joins Blue and Steven against White Diamond. In "Change Your Mind", it is Blue Diamond who helps Yellow realize that deferring to White Diamond's perfectionism has made her miserable. Later, Blue and Yellow arrive to confront White, but she immediately possesses them before they can tell her how they feel. After White is defeated, the Diamonds travel back to Earth, where Blue initially refuses but later agrees to help Steven heal the corrupted Gems.

In Their Own Story

In "Change Your Mind", Blue Diamond is first seen in a flashback memory of Steven's, where she is scolding Pink Diamond millennia ago. When Steven wakes up imprisoned in a tower on the Gem Homeworld, Blue Diamond, thinking he is Pink Diamond, arrives to scold him again. However, Steven helps her understand that Pink abandoned the Diamonds because of their dysfunctional family dynamic, and she decides to help the Crystal Gems escape. Yellow Diamond tries to stop them, but Steven helps Yellow realize that deferring to White Diamond's perfectionism has made her miserable. Later, Blue and Yellow finally tell White about how they feel, but she responds by turning them into colorless drones acting as extensions of herself. After White is defeated, the Diamonds travel back to Earth, where Blue helps Steven heal the corrupted Gems, including Jasper.
