Lore & Background

Beach City was chosen by the original Crystal Gems for its proximity to the Temple, allowing them to monitor Gem activity while blending into human society. For years, the residents remained unaware of the magical conflicts occurring just beneath their feet or in the nearby ocean. As Steven explores his Gem heritage, he gradually learns that the Crystal Gems are rebels who fought against a vast interstellar empire ruled by the Diamonds, not simply fugitives from it. During their missions, they visit ruins that were once important to Gem culture but have been derelict for millennia. The town witnessed battles that reshaped its physical landscape and social fabric, transitioning from a place of secrecy to one of open acceptance between species.

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in soft oranges and purples. Steven sat on the edge of the pier, watching the waves crash against the pilings. The air smelled of salt and popcorn from the boardwalk stalls closing for the night. He felt a familiar hum in his chest, a connection to the ocean that mirrored his mother's legacy. Somewhere beneath the sand, the Temple slept quietly. For now, there was no war, only the gentle rhythm of the tide washing over the shore where two worlds had finally learned to coexist.
